This self-guided kayak rental tour takes you on a short, mostly protected paddle to an uninhabited island sandwiched between Lamma & Hong Kong.
Along the way, you see many birds of prey including herons, egrets and kites fishing or resting along the shorelines.
As you enter the East Lamma Channel all the contrasts that make Hong Kong unique will come into view. Huge skyscrapers on Hong Kong island against small village houses on Lamma. Massive container ships passing by slow wooden ferries. Once inside the Luk Chau bay you view a small semi-deserted village and Tin Hau temple.
Paddle along the coast to the beach in the corner of the bay. Here you can fossick for pottery pieces that can be up to 6,500 years old! True story!
Finally your stop on Dog Island – a place to relax and feed the two friendly locals (we supply some dog food). Red dog and black dog are the 2 locals who will greet you with wagging tails and welcome barks. They are not domesticated so will not allow you to pat them. It’s best to just enjoy the company of these wonderful animals. Have a swim and chill.
Your return journey can be around the outside of the island or back along the channel. The round trip will take you around 3 hours.
Amazing Hong Kong.
